3-83. HIGH PRESSURE PUP ASSEHBLY REPAIR (CONT)
To prevent damage to pump, do not let rotor cover cock when tightening mounting bolts.
Install 16 mounting bolts. Tighten bolts evenly to draw rotor cover down. Torque to 100 ft lb.
Using seal measuring bar and depth micrometer, measure distance between rotor cover and face of rotor case.
Record measurement. Correct measurement is 0.408-0.422 in.
Determine amount of shims needed for correct measurement.
Tilt pump to horizontal position.
Remove three bearing cap bolts and bearing cap.
Install correct amount of shims.
52 Install bearing cap and three cap bolts. Torque to 104 ft lb.
Turn pump to vertical position with rotor case up.
Take measurement again (step 47). If measurement is not correct, repeat steps 48 thru 53.
55 Mount dial indicator on rotor cover.
Check rotor runout while turning rotor by hand. Runout must be within 0.001 total indicator reading.
Turn pump to horizontal position.
Install shaft sleeve (without O-ring) with O-ring groove toward-end of shaft.
Install bearing cap slinger.
60 Install new bearing locknut. Torque to 175 ft lb.
Heat throttle bushing to 150
F. Check temperature with heat chalk.
Install throttle bushing over seal hub. Let cool.
Lubricate O-ring with oil. Install O-ring in groove on seal hub.
