Observe specific Warnings in the text.
a. Refer to Figure 2-49 and disassemble the lower section of the actuator valve to the extent indicated.
Do not attempt to disassemble spring and piston assembly (9) to a greater extent than
directed below. The spring is very powerful. If released, it can cause injury or death.
b. Attach and secure the valve actuator tool to cylinder cover (1) with the socket head screw located in the center of
The bent end of wire retainer fits into the hole in cover.
c. Using the valve actuator tool, turn the cylinder cover counterclockwise to push the end of wire retainer (2) out of
the slot in cylinder (11). Continue turning until wire retainer (2) can be removed from cover (1).
When removing actuator tool there may be spring tension on cover, which may cause
d. Remove the valve actuator tool.
e. Remove cover (1). Preformed pecking (3 and 4) will come off with the cover.
The snap ring is under pressure. Remove with care to avoid injury.
f. To remove snap ring (5), use arbor press to apply pressure to cap (6).
g. Cap (6) and teflon bearing (7) can now be removed.
Do not disassemble spring and piston assembly. Further disassembly of spring and
piston assembly can release spring tension with explosive force, causing possible
serious injury or death to personnel.
h. Remove snap ring (6).
i. Push spring and piston assembly (9) upward from bottom of cylinder (11) until completely removed.
