Tools,  see  TM  10-4610-232-12,  Appx  B, Equipment  Condition: Sec Ill, Ref Code (No.) Air compressor motor removed (para.4-79, Tool Kit, General Mechanics Automotive (1) TM   10-4610-232-12). Pliers, Snap Ring, External (4) Air compressor relief valve removed Pliers, Snap Ring, Internal (4) (para.  2-70). Tool Kit, Compressor (Metric) (12) Oil drained from crankcase (para Materials/Parts: TM   10-4610-232-12). Cleaning Solvent (Appx B, Sec II, Item 27) General Safety Instructions: Gaskets    (TM    10-4610-232-24P) Lockwashers    (TM    10-4610-232-24P) WARNING Preformed   Packing   (TM   10-4610-232-24P) Observe specific Warnings Washers   (TM   10-4610-232-24P) 4-78, in the text. a. Remove  four  capscrews  (1,  Figure  2-79,  sheet  1  ),  Iockwashers  (2)  and  washers  (3).  Two  brackets  (4)  and  air compressor assembly (5) will now be free. If necessary, remove four spring nuts (6). b. Remove four capscrews (7), Iockwashers (8) and washers (9) and remove plate (1 O). c. Remove four capscrews (11 ), Iockwashers (1 2) and washers (1 3) and remove two channels (1 4). d. If necessary, remove four spring nuts (15) (into which capscrews (7) fit) from channels (1 4). DISASSEMBLY. NOTE Disassembly and reassembly of air compressor is covered in four stages as follows: a. Air compressor external components. b. Air compressor second stage components. c. Air compressor third stage components. d. Air compressor first stage components. Air compressor crankcase components are repaired at the General Support level. a. External Components: (1) Refer to Figure 2-79, sheet 2 and disconnect tubing (16) at four points by loosening nuts (17) and remove as an assembly. (2) Disassemble as follows: (a) Remove capscrew (18), nut (19) and washer (20). (b) Remove capscrew (21), nut (22) and washer (23). Remove clamps (24 and 25) and clip (26). (c) Remove capscrews (27), nut (28), washer (29) and clamps (30). (d) Remove capscrew (31), nut (32), washer (33) and clamps (34). 2-228
