TM  10-4610-232-34 Table  2-1.  Direct  Support  Troubleshooting  Guide  (Continued) MALFUNCTION TEST  OR  INSPECTION CORRECTIVE   ACTION Step 2. Step 3. Step 4. Step 5. Step 6. Step 7. Step 8. Step 9. Push  the  chemical  pump  start  pushbutton, If the chemical pumps start running (as indicated by relay K7 (REF: interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 7) pulling in or a pulsing noise from the pumps), go to step 4. Observe  the  indicating  plungers  on  the  following  relays:  K3  should  be  out,  K4  in,  K21  in,  and  K22  (REF: Interconnection  diagram  FO-2,  Sheet  6)  in. (a)  If  K3  is  in,  refer  to  operation  mode  troubleshooting. (b)  If  K4  is  out,  refer  to  system  on/system  standby  circuit  troubleshooting. (c)  If  K21  or  K22  is  out,  refer  to  pressure  switch  troubleshooting  (malfunction  1  and  4  respectively). Observe  the  indicating  plunger  on  K12  (REF:  Interconnection  diagram  FO-2,  Sheet  6).  it  should  be  out. (a)  If  it  is  in,  refer  to  backwash  circuit  troubleshooting. (b)  If  the  chemical  pumps  ran  in  step  2,  shut  down  the  ROWPU  and  the  generator  and  go  to  step  6. Shut  down  ROWPU  and  generator.  Refer  to  electrical  drawings  in  Appendix  D.  Check  continuity,  point-to- point,  from  transformer  T1(X1)  (REF:  interconnection  diagram  FO-2,  Sheet  10)  to  PB6(1B2)  (REF: interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 11). Push in the indicating plungers on relays K4, K21 and K22 when checking  across  their  contacts. (a)  Repair  any  loose  or  damaged  wire  (para.  2-20). (b)  Replace  circuit  breaker  CB7  (REF:  Interconnection  diagram  FO-2,  Sheet  8)  if  open  (para.  2-23). (c)  Replace  switch  PB3  (REF:  Interconnection  diagram  FO-2,  Sheet  11)  if  open  (para.  2-22). (d)  Replace  switch  PB4  (REF:  Interconnection  diagram  FO-2,  Sheet  12)  if  open  (para.  2-22). (e)  Replace  relay  K3  if  its  contact  is  open  (para.  2-23). (f)  Replace  relay  K4,  K21  or  K22  if  their  respective  contacts  do  not  close  when  the  indicating  plunger  is pushed in (para. 2-23). Remove  the  #231  wire  from  MS3,  Check  continuity,  point-to-point,  from  PB6(1B2)  (REF:  interconnection diagram  FO-2,  Sheet  11)  to  MS3  (wire  #231),  Push  in  PB7  (REF:  interconnection  diagram  FO-2,  Sheet  11) when  checking  across  its  terminals. (a)  Repair  any  loose  or  damaged  wire  (para.  2-20). (b)  Replace  PB6  if  open  (para.  2-22). (c)  Replace  PB7  if  it  does  not  close  when  pushed  in  (para.  2-22). (d)  Replace  K12  if  open  (para.  2-23).  Normally  closed. Check  continuity,  point-to-point,  from  transformer  T1(X2)  to  the  MS3  neutral  side. (a)  Repair  any  loose  or  damaged  wire  (para.  2-20). (b)  If  all  the  preceding  checks  and  repairs  are  satisfactory,  replace/repair  MS3. Check  the  indicating  plunger  on  K1.  it  should  be  in. If  it  is  out,  refer  to  operation  mode  circuit  troubleshooting. Shut  down  ROWPU  and  generator.  Refer  to  electrical  drawings  in  Appendix  D.  Check  continuity.  point-to- point,  from  PB7(1A4)  to  PB7(1A3)  and  K12(A1Y).  Depress  the  indicating  plunger  on  MS3  and  K1  when checking  continuity  across  their  contacts. (a)  Repair  any  loose  or  damaged  wire  (para.  2-20). (b)  Replace  relay  K1  if  its  contact  does  not  show  continuity  when  the  indicating  plunger  is  depressed (para. 2-23). (c)  Replace/repair  MS3  if  its  contact  does  not  show  continuity. Step 10. Check generator voltage on all three phases. It must be 435-445 VAC on each phase. (a)  Adjust  to  correct  voltage. (b)  If  voltage  is  not  correct  on  all  three  phases,  refer  to  generator  troubleshooting. Step  11.  Check  system  air  pressure  and  use  an  air  manifold  drain  valve  to  lower  it  below  1400  psig.  Turn  the  air compressor   switch   on   and   note   if   the   air   compressor   runs.   Alternately,   turn   on   both   switches   for   the distribution  pump  and  note  if  it  runs. If the 3 phase motors listed do not operate, go to step 13. Step  12.  Shut  down  the  ROWPU  and  generator.  Refer  to  electrical  drawings  in  Appendix  D.  Check  continuity, point-to-point,  from  the  power  distribution  block  (PDB)  to  J21  (REF:  interconnection  diagram  FO-2,  Sheet 16) on the following lines: AL1 to J21E, AL2 to J21F and AL3 to J21G. Depress the operating plunger on MS3 when  checking  across  its  contacts.  Disconnect  the  J21  connector  when  testing. 2-42 Change  1
