4-46. CHEMICAL SLURRY FEEDER DRIVER MOTOR PULLEYS.
General. There are two pulleys in the chemical slurry feeder drive system. One is on the drive motor and the
other on the speed reducer.
Before connecting to external power source, make sure all power controlling switches are off and the truck
chassis is grounded. Never handle live electric wiring. High voltage may cause serious injury or death.
Disconnect power cable from receptacle connector.
Remove three screws (4, fig. 4-36) and washers (3), and lift guard (1) out of frame (5).
Loosen screws (5, fig. 3-10) and slide slurry feeder drive motor (3) toward speed reducer drive pulley (1).
Remove drivebelt (2) from pulleys (1 and 4).
(5) Loosen pulley setscrews and remove pulleys and Woodruff keys.
(1) Inspect pulleys for chips, cracks, worn groove or worn bore.
Inspect keys for burrs or other damage.
Replace defective pulleys or keys.
(1) Install keys and pulleys on shafts and tighten setscrews.
Move drive motor (3, fig. 3-10) toward speed reducer and install drivebelt on pulleys (1 and 4).
Move motor away from speed reducer to apply tension to drivebelt. Belt is correctly adjusted when it can
be depressed 1/2 to 1 inch at a point midway between the two pulleys.
When the belt has been adjusted to correct tension, tighten nuts on four screws (5).
Position guard (1, fig. 4-36) on frame (5) and secure with three screws (4) and washers (3).
