STEP 1. MAKE SURE CONTROL VALVE CV-34 IS CLOSED.
STEP 2. OPEN DRAIN VALVE DV-48 AND MAKE SURE THE FILTER IS COMPLETELY DRAINED. CLOSE DRAIN VALVE DV-48 AND
DRAINCOCK DC-47.
STEP 3. PLACE AIR RELEASE VALVE ARV-49 AND CONTROL VALVE CV-36 IN THE FILTER POSITION.
STEP 4. PLACE CONTROL VALVE CV-46 IN THE RECIRCULATION POSITION.
STEP 5. LOOSEN DRAINCOCKS DC-42 AND DC-U AND OPEN DRAINCOCKS DC-41 AND DC-43.
STEP 6. CLOSE DRAIN OUTLET CAP DOC-39 AND CONTROL VALVE CV-40.
STEP 7. OPEN PRECOAT FUNNEL CONTROL VALVE CV-37 AND AIR VENT CONTROL VALVE CV-38.
STEP 8. PREPARE ONE GALLON OF DIATOMITE SLURRY FOR PRECOATING.
STEP 9. CLOSE PRECOAT FUNNEL CONTROL VALVE CV-37.
STEP 10. PLACE WARNING LIGHT AND BUZZER CONTROL SWITCH (FIG. 2-11) TO THE ON POSITION.
STEP 11. OPEN CONTROL VALVE CV-34.
STEP 12. START FILTER PUMP BY PRESSING THE FILTER PUMP START BUTTON (FIG. 2-11).
STEP 13. OPEN CONTROL VALVE CV-38 AND BLEED AIR FROM FILTER HOUSING. CLOSE VALVE WHEN WATER STARTS TO
FLOW.
STEP 14. WHEN EFFLUENT PRESSURE GAGE INDICATES 30 PSI, OPEN CONTROL VALVE CV-40.
STEP 15. ALLOW FILTER TO OPERATE ON RECIRCULATION UNTIL PRECOAT IS VISIBLE IN FILTER ELEMENTS WHEN VIEWED
THROUGH FILTER WINDOW.
