TM 55-1930-209-14&P-1 (3) Check for corrosion or rust. Clean and touch up paint as necessary, in accordance with TB 43-0144, to match surroundings. (a) When cleaning, avoid damaging insulation, mounting system, and hardware, or impairing electrical/electronic properties of item being cleaned. (b) Vacuum internal portions of electronic components. (c) Wipe dirt from external sources, except plastics, with dry cheesecloth or, if necessary, with a soapy cloth. Cloth should be damp but not dripping wet. (d) Avoid using solvents for cleaning internal portions of electrical/electronic equipment. Solvents leave a greasy film on components and may reduce electrical conductivity. (4) Check controls of components to make sure knobs are not missing, broken, or loose and that controls turn properly. (5) Check for loose plugs and jacks. Tighten if necessary. (6) Check for loose mountings, hardware, brackets, etc. Tighten as necessary. (7) Make sure Army radio and marine radio antennas are properly installed. b. Make sure power switches are set to OFF position for all radio system operating equipment. c. Make sure correct power fuses are installed in the radio equipment as specified in the following table. CAUTION Be sure proper fuse ampere rating and type are Installed as listed in the following table. If a larger ampere-rated fuse is installed, damage to equipment circuitry can occur.
