SYSTEM (EMS)
WARNING
Be sure that electrical power Is OFF before
performing any maintenance on electrical
systems. Redtag appropriate switches and
circuit breakers with: "WARNING - DO NOT
ACTIVATE. REPAIRS BEING MADE."
Observe all safety precautions listed at the
beginning of this manual.

All Components
a. Wipe clean or vacuum major EMS com-
ponents and check for loose fitting wires.
Use insulated tools.
b. Allow EMS 5 to 10 minutes warmup
before operation.
c. Check for damage or corrosion.
Repair touchup paint in accordance with
TB 43-0144 as necessary. Do not paint
threads or labels.
d. Check all fasteners, mounting hardware,
and cable attachments for loose or miss-
ing components. Tighten or replace as
necessary using insulated tools.

Batteries
WARNING
Fumes from batteries may be flammable
and explosive. Do NOT smoke or have open
flame when checking or worldng on battery
bank. Battery electrolyte presents potential
health hazards. Contact with eyes and skin
should be avoided. SafUty glasses, gloves,
and rubber aprons must be worn when han-
dllng this chemical. Electrolyte contains sul-
furic acid which can cause severe bums and
Is highly toxic to skin, eyes, and respiratory
system.
