Fill pump impeller housing (8) with water to prime pump and install priming plug (5).
Press raw water pump switch START button (4, fig.2-1) to start pump and deliver raw water from source of
supply to water purification unit.
Observe the flow of raw water through the sight glass, SG-1 (2, fig. 2-16) for clarity and presence of
air bubbles. If the raw water contains excessive air bubbles,. stop and check the suction hose line on
the pump for air leaks.
If two pumps are connected in series to deliver raw water, prime the second pump (para 2-1 a. and b.).
Press the raw water pump switch START button (4, fig. 2-1).
Starting Chemical Solution Feeder. Before starting the chemical solution feeder check the feeder gearbox (fig.
2, 2-20) for tight or hard-turning gears by removing the knurled cap (1) and, rotating the gearshaft (3) by hand. If gears
do not move freely by hand (would cause the motor (4) to burn out), refer to Direct Support. When the raw water starts
flowing to the erdlator tank, start the chemical solution feeder (4, fig. 2-10) as follows: (a) Press solution feeder switch
START button (3, fig. 2-1).
Loosen wingnuts (9, fig. 2-5).
Set feeder indicator FEI-7(5) for ferric chloride solution on the scale by using the coagulation dosage test,
and the ferric chloride solution chart (fig 2-9).
Set feed indicator FEI-8 (2) for calcium hypochlorite solution on the scale by using the chlorine demand
test and the calcium hypochlorite chart.
In case of the solution feeder pumps do not prime: 1. Press solution feeder switch STOP button (16, fig.
Remove wingnuts (9, fig. 2-5) and disconnect driving arms (6 and 10).
Operate lever arms (1 and 7) up and down rapidly by hand until pumps are primed. Observe flow of
chemical solution through plastic feed lines.
Reset feed indicators as described in steps c. and d. above.
Press solution feeder switch START button (3, fig. 2-1).
(8.1 Starting Chemical Solution Feeder Assembly (Raider Model only).
Press chemical solution feeder start button (3, fig. 2-1).
Loosen thumbscrew (2, fig. 2-5.1) and turn ferric chloride control knob (1) fully counter clockwise to 100
percent stroke. Turn control knob clockwise as required to obtain correct.
