(7) (Model 600-3) Pour solution into 5-gallon container marked CHLORINE.
(Model 600-1) Make sure the CHLORINE tubes are in the CHLORINE
container and the tubes are connected to the CHLORINE pump and valve.
(Model 600-3) Make sure all hose connections are secure on pump, valves and
containers.

Mix sodium hexametaphosphate (sodium hex):
(1) Pour 0.1 pounds (45 grams) of sodium hex into SODIUM HEX measure.
(2) Put sodium hex into pail marked SODIUM HEX.
(3) Add brine (if available) or raw water to pail marked SODIUM HEX to the 3-gallon mark.
(4) Stir with wooden paddle for 1 minute (or longer), until all chemical is disolved.
(5) (Model 600-1) Leave SODIUM HEX in the pail and place both tubes (from SODIUM HEX
valve and pump) into the pail.
(6) (Model 600-3) Pour solution into 5 gallon container marked SODIUM HEX.

Mix citric acid:
NOTE
Perform this step only if ROWPU will be operated 20 or more hours before
changing sites. Otherwise, proceed to step aa.
(1) Pour three quarter pounds (340 grams) of citric acid into pail marked CITRIC ACID.
(2) Add brine (if available) or raw water to pail marked CITRIC ACID to the 3-gallon mark.
(3) Stir with wooden paddle for 1 minute (or longer), until all chemical is disolved.
(4) (Model 600-1) Leave CITRIC ACID in the pail and place both tubes (from CITRIC ACID
valve and pump) into the pail.
(5) (Model 600-3) Pour solution into 5-gallon container marked CITRIC ACID.
z. (Model 600-3) Check chemical solution levels by pulling level indicators up, and then gently letting
go. Indicators should remain raised and read approximately 1/4 full.
aa. Ground the ROWPU with ground rod kept on outside bottom of the control panel (fig. 2-37). First
remove the rod with the bolt screwed into the coupler. The bolt keeps from damaging the coupler when the rod is
driven into the ground. Drive the first 3-foot section into the ground with the 6-pound hammer, or use the slide
hammer.
