CAUTION
If the water purification unit is not to be used for several days, remove the filter element from the filter,
disassemble and clean with potable water, thoroughly dry, reassemble and place in the filter. Do not
replace filter housing cover until the unit is placed in service. If the unit is to be placed in extended
storage, disassemble and clean the filter elements with potable water and preserve and package each
filter element separately.
NOTE
The filters are connected in parallel, corresponding to the filter pump connections, permitting disassembly
of one filter without interfering with the operation of the other filter.
b.
Removal of Filter Housing Cover and Elements.
(1)
Remove two clamping ring bolts (4, fig. 3-25) and nuts (3) from clamping ring (2), and remove clamping
ring from filter.
(2)
Lift filter housing cover (1) off filter housing (5).
CAUTION
Be careful not to damage the plastic tube (6) and valve (7).
(3)
Remove two bolts (2, fig. 3-26) and lockwashers (1) from filter element mounting bracket (3).
(4)
Lift filter element assembly (4) up and off its adapter bushing in bottom of filter.
(5)
If O-rings (5 and 9, fig. 3-27) are not attached to filter element assembly, remove O-ring (5) from the
adapter bushing and O-ring (9) from the filter element mounting bracket (3, fig. 3-26)

Disassembly of Filter Element Assembly.
(1)
Remove two capscrews (13, fig. 3-27), lockwashers (12), and retaining ring (14) from upper bracket (10).
(2)
Unscrew tierod (1) from the lower bracket (4).
(3)
Separate lower bracket and metal spacer (3), tierod (1), upper bracket (10), and plastic spacer (8) from the
perforated tube (2) and plastic membrane sleeve (6).
(4)
Remove plastic cups (7) from inside the perforated tube.
