CHAPTER 2
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
SECTION I. OPERATING PROCEDURES
2-1.
GENERAL.
This section describes, locates, illustrates, and furnishes the operator or organizational maintenance personnel
sufficient information pertaining to the various controls and instruments provided for the proper operation of the water
purification unit. Refer to TM 9-2320-213-4 and TM 5-766 for controls and instruments pertaining to the truck, towed-type
cargo trailer and generator set.

CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTS.
a.
Valves and Draincocks. Table 2-1 furnishes information pertaining to the valves and draincocks required for the
control and operation of the water purification unit. The flow diagram (FO-2) located in back of manual, shows the
location of the control valves and draincocks in the system. The following symbols are used to identify the valves and
draincocks.
ARV - Air release valve
DC - Draincock
CV
- Control valve
BPV - Bypass valve

- Drain valve
LLC - Liquid level cock
VC
- Vent cock
FV - Float valve
SCV - Swing check valve

Feed and Flow Indicators and Pressure Gages. Table 2-2 furnishes information pertaining to feed and pressure
indicators and pressure gages for the operation of the water purification unit. The flow diagram (FO-2) located at back of
manual shows the location of the indicators and gages in the system. The following symbols are used to identify the
indicators and gages.
PG - Pressure gage
FEI - Feed indicator
FLI - Flow indicator

Manually Operated Electrical Controls. Table 2-3 furnishes information pertaining to the manually operated
controls required to operate the electrical components of the water purification unit.

Sight Glass and Low Water Alarm Sensitive Switch. Table 2-4 furnishes information on the sight glass and low
water level alarm sensitive switch. The flow diagram (FO-2) located in back of manual, shows the location of the units in
the system. The following symbols are used to identify the units:
