12 Alternator Belts
1.
Check the belts for excessive wear, fraying and
cracking.
When belt replacement is necessary, belts must be
replaced in complete matched sets. Never replace only
one belt. The new belt will carry all the load and fail
rapidly.
To Adjust:
1.
Loosen the anchor bolt in the slotted bracket.
2.
Apply a 110 N (25 pound) force perpendicular to the
belt, midway between the driving and driven pulley.
Measure the belt deflection.
Proper belt deflection is 14 to 20 mm (9/16 to 13/16").
Adjust the belt tension as required.
2.
Move the alternator in or out to obtain proper
adjustment.
3.
Tighten the anchor bolt after the belt is properly
adjusted.
