5 Remove fanbelt from alternator and vibration damper pulleys.
b. Installation and Adjustment
1 Install fanbelt on vibration damper and alternator pulleys.

Place straight edge from vibration damper pulley to alternator pulley.

Using a ruler, press down on fanbelt halfway between pulleys. Check measurement. It should be 3/8 to 1/2 in.

Use adjusting nut to adjust fanbelt.

Tighten bottom mounting nut.

When adjusted, tighten jam nut.

Install alternator guard. Install three flatwashers, lockwashers, bolts, and nuts.

Connect battery (para 2-16).
