2-90. ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT (CONT)

Remove jam nut.

Loosen alternator adjusting nut.

Loosen mounting nut.

Remove bolt and flatwasher from mounting adjustment block.

Push alternator toward engine. Remove fanbelt from vibration damper and alternator pulleys.

Tag and disconnect two wires from alternator.

Remove two nuts, four flatwashers, two lockwashers, and two mounting bolts. Remove alternator.
c. Installation
1
Install alternator. Install two mounting bolts, four flatwashers, two lockwashers, and two nuts. Hand tighten nuts.

Install bolt and flatwasher on mounting adjustment block.

Install adjusting arm and jam nut. Do not tighten.
4 Install fanbelt on vibration damper and alternator pulleys.

Adjust fanbelt (para 2-89).
6
Tighten jam nut.
7
Connect two wires to alternator. Remove tags.
8
Install alternator guard (para 2-89).
9
Connect battery (para 2-16).
