Remove and discard cylinder head gasket.

Remove valves as required (para 3-12).

If replacing cylinder head only, go to subpara d.

Cylinder Removal
Remove cylinder and shims.

Cylinder Installation
NOTE
Shims installed should be of the same thickness as those removed.

Install shims.
NOTE
Piston ring ends should be staggered 180°.

Lubricate inside of cylinder with engine oil (MIL-L-2104).

Using piston ring clamp, install cylinder.

Install solder wire on top of pistons.
