3-9. FUEL INJECTION NOZZLE REPAIR (CONT)
NOTE
Cracking pressure can be changed by adding or subtracting shims. 0.004 in. equals about 145 psi.

Pump tester. Observe tester gage. When indicator cracks fully open, gage should read 2610 psi. Add
shims to raise pressure. Remove shims to decrease pressure.

Slowly pump tester until injection nozzle reaches cracking pressure. Release pump handle. Observe
injection nozzle for leakage.
NOTE
Spray pattern should inject an atomized spray through the four holes without dribbling.

Pump handle. Observe spray pattern. If drops form, replace nozzle.

Install injection nozzle (para 2-33 or 2-57).
