PISTON, RINGS, AND CONNECTING ROD REPLACEMENT/REPAIR

Installation
NOTE
Make sure connecting rods, caps, and bearings are installed in the same cylinder from which they
were removed.
1
Using piston ring expander, install piston rings on piston. Stagger ring gaps 180°.

Install connecting rod in piston. Remove tags.

Install wrist pin in piston and connecting rod.

Install wrist pin snaprings.

Coat bearings, crankshaft journals, connecting rods, and caps with oil (MIL-L-2104).

Install bearings. Remove tags.
7
Install connecting rod cap and bolts. Remove tags. Torque bolts to 70-73 ft lb.
8
Repeat steps 1 thru 7 for all connecting rods removed.
9
Install cylinder (para 3-34).
10 Install oil pan (para 2-60).
