CAMSHAFT AND VALVE LIFTER REPLACEMENT/REPAIR (CONT)

Installation
1
Using engine oil (MIL-L-2104), lubricate valve lifters, camshaft bore, retainer, camshaft bushings, and
camshaft.

Install valve lifters. Push in toward cylinder.
3
Install camshaft bushings.
4
Carefully turn and install camshaft.
5
Install camshaft retainer and two bolts.
NOTE
Two personnel required for next step.

Turn engine right side up.

Rotate engine crankshaft bring no. 3 cylinder to tdc.

Put spur gear on camshaft. Aline timing mark on injection pump gear between two timing marks on spur
gear.
NOTE
Camshaft gear has four holes of unequal spacing for proper connection to camshaft.

Aline timing mark on crankshaft between two timing marks on camshaft gear. Rotate camshaft until
holes in camshaft are in alinement with holes in camshaft gear.
