CAMSHAFT AND VALVE LIFTER REPLACEMENT/REPAIR (CONT)

Removal
1
Remove eight camshaft gear mounting bolts and adapter plate.

Remove camshaft gear. Remove spur gear.
3
Remove two bolts. Remove camshaft retainer.
NOTE
Two personnel required for next step.
4
Turn engine bottom side up.
5
Push valve lifters away from camshaft.
6
Carefully turn and pull camshaft from engine block.
7
Remove camshaft bushings and valve lifters.
8
Inspect camshaft for out-of-round, cracks, and wear. Replace as required.
