CYLINDER LINER REPLACEMENT (CONT)

If cylinder liner projection is incorrect, measure the following parts:
a
Spacer 0.337-0.339 in.
b
Spacer plate gasket 0.007-0.009 in.
c
Cylinder liner flange 0.3492-0.3508 in.

Use shims below to adjust liner projection.

Put a mark on cylinder liner and block so the liner can be installed in the same position from which it was
removed.

Remove cylinder liner projection kit.

Remove cylinder liner.

Install cylinder liner installation tool.
NOTE
Do not put sealing compound on cylinder block. Put the .030 in. shim on top of shim package if
more than one shim is used. Put sealing compound on the top and bottom of the shim package.

Put sealing compound on underside of cylinder liner flange.

Add shims as required.

Put liquid soap on the O-ring seals and cylinder bores.

Put O-ring seal in place.

Put filler band in engine oil (MIL-L-2104). Immediately install filler band on cylinder liner and immediately install
the cylinder in cylinder block with cylinder liner installation tool.

Remove installation tool.

Repeat steps 1-20 for each liner removed.

Install gasket and spacer plate at top of cylinder block.

Install cylinder block (para 3-78).
