NOTE
A four-wire cable is illustrated in Figure 2-7. Regardless of the number of wires, all
wires are spliced as follows:
Remove 6 in. (15.24 cm) of insulation (1) from both sides of the broken wire in the cable.
Cut off a 3 in. length of the damaged wire (2) with the damaged area in the center of the 3 in. length.
Measure and cut a new piece of wire to replace the damaged wire (2). Discard the damaged wire.
Strip both ends of new wire (3) and the two good ends of the wire being repaired.
