Table 2-1. Direct Support Troubleshooting Guide (Continued)
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
(b) If the indicating plunger goes in but comes out when the distribution pump on switch at the back door
is released, go to step 4.
(c) If the indicating plunger on MS2 goes in and stays in. go to step 10.
Step 4. Shut down ROWPU and generator. Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix D and check continuity,
point-to-point, from transformer T1(X1) (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 10) to connector J13D
(REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 9) and from T1(X2) to relay K8 (REF: Interconnection diagram
FO-2, Sheet 7) (wire #2A). Remove the #2A wire from K8 before testing. Disconnect P13 (REF:
interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 14) from the side of the control panel.
(a) Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).
(b) Replace circuit breaker CB7 or CB10 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 8) if open (para.
2-23).
(c) Replace/repair connector J13 if faulty (para. 2-21).
(d) Replace switch PB3 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 11) if open (para. 2-22).
Step 5. Remove wire #106 from MS2. Remove wire #2A from PSK1 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 8).
Check continuity, point-to-point, from J13F to K8(K1). Repeat the procedure form J13E to K8(K1), depress
the indicating plunger on K8 while testing across its contact.
(a) Repair any loose or darnaged wire (para. 2-20).
(b) Replace relay K8 if its contact will not close when testing continuity (para. 2-23).
(c) Replace/repair connector J13 if faulty (para. 2-21).
(d) Replace relay K8 if the above checks are okay and problem still exists (para. 2-23).
(e) Return ROWPU to service and test distribution pump for operation.
Step 6. Shut down ROWPU and generator. Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix D and check continuity,
point-to-point, from the black wire on PSK1 to J61A (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 16) and from
the white wire on PSK1 to J61B. Check each wire for a short to ground.
(a) Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).
(b) Replace/repair connector J61 if faulty (para. 2-33).
(c) Replace the MOV's (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 16) if the fault is traced to them (para.
2-33).
Step 7. Remove wire #105 from PSK1. Check continuity from J13F and from relay K8(A1X) to PSK1 (wire #105).
Repair any loose or damaged wire (Para. 2-20).
Step 8. Remove the #2A wire from PSK1. Check continuity, point-to-point, from transformer T1(X2) to PSK1 (wire
#2A).
(a) Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).
(b) Replace PSK1 if the above checks are okay and problem still exists (para. 2-23).
Step 9. Remove wire #108 from MS2. Check continuity from PSK1 (wire #108) to MS2 (wire #108) and from
transformer T1(X2) to MS2 (wire #2A).
(a) Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).
(b) Replace/repair starter MS2 if all the above checks are okay (para. 2-25.)
Step 10. Check generator voltage on all three phases. It must be 435-440 VAC on each phase.
(a) Adjust to correct voltage.
(b) If voltage is not correct on all three phases, refer to generator troubleshooting.
Step 11. Check system air pressure and use an air manifold drain valve to lower it below 1400 psig. Turn the air
compressor switch on and note if the air compressor runs.
If the air compressor does not operate, go to step 13.
Step 12. Shut down ROWPU and generator. Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix D. Check continuity, point-to-
point, from the power distribution block (PDB) (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 10) to J19 on the
following lines: AL1 to J19A, AL2 to J19B, and AL3 to J19C. Depress the operating plunger on MS2 when
checking across its contacts. Disconnect the J 19 connector when testing.
