3-6. BACKWASH PUMP STRAINER CLEANING.
This task consists of:
a.
Removal
b.
Cleaning
c.
Installation
INITIAL SET-UP:
Materials/Parts:
Silicone grease (from storage chest)
Equipment Condition:
ROWPU shutdown (para 2-14)
a.
Removal. Refer to figure 3-7.
(1)
Loosen two knobs (2 and 7) on cover (1).
(2)
Swivel end of cover (1) out from under knob (7) until cover is clear of basket (4).
(3)
Pull basket (4) from strainer body (5).
(4)
Inspect gasket (3) on cover (1) and discard gasket if damaged.
(5)
Remove plug (6) from strainer housing (5).
b.
Cleaning. Refer to figure 3-7.
(1)
Rinse strainer housing (5) with brine water.
(2)
Flush basket (4) with brine water. Make sure that all the holes in the basket are clear.
(3)
Rinse dirt from cap (1).
c.
Installation. Refer to figure 3-7.

Install drain plug (6) in bottom of strainer housing (5).
(2)
If removed, lubricate gasket with silicone grease from storage chest. Install gasket (3) on cover (1).
(3)
Position basket (4) in strainer housing (5).
(4)
Swivel cover (1) under knob (7). Make sure cover is alined with strainer body (5).
(5)
Tighten knobs (2 and 7).
