Step 3. Check for poor compression.
Repair or replace valves (paras 5-66 thru 5-67).
2. Engine Misses
Step 1. Check for defective fuel injector.
Test fuel injector (para 5-33). Repair or replace fuel injector (paras 5-33 thru 5-35).
Step 2. Check for defective fuel pump.
Repair or replace fuel pump (paras 5-37 thru 5-39).
Step 3. Check for burned or sticking valves.
Grind or replace valves (paras 5-66 thru 5-67).
3. Engine Produces Excessive Smoke at Idle Speed
Step 1. Check for dirty or damaged fuel injector.
Repair or replace fuel injector (paras 5-33 thru 5-35).
