Even though the winch has a sprig loaded disc brake ("ON" when hydraulic system is OFF) and a band
brake, the drum should be secured with the chain and shackles supplied as shown in Figure 8-6. This
method of tie-down will prevent the drum from moving due to motion-induced vibrations.
