PUMP NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT (continued frompage 6)•7.If the transmission operates as shown by motorshaft rotation, reduce speed to idle. Using a3/16inch internal hex wrench, slowly turn thenull adjustment screw clockwiseorcounterclockwiseuntil the transmissiondoes not operate. Repeat step 6. Note thatcharge pressure should drop approximately 20psi with forward or reverse stroking of the pumpswashplate due to the shifting of the shuttlevalve in the motor manifold.•8.With a 3/16-inch internal the wrench, slowly turnthe null adjustment screw clockwiseuntilcharge pressure begins to decrease. Thenslowly turn the adjustment screwcounterclockwise , observing the angle ofrotation, until charge pressure decreases again(charge pressure will rise in neutral and dropwhen going into stroke).ORDERING INFORMATIONA range of options to the basic HDC allows it to becustom-tailored to each application. The control isspecified by filling in each slot of the order number, as isshown in Table B, with the appropriate model code.Other options are possible. Consult Sundstrand MobileControls with further questions.TABLE B. INFORMATION NECESSARY TO SPECIFYTHE HYDRAULIC DISPLACEMENT CONTROL.1.DEVICE IDENTITYThis is the basic HDC. Thisshould be the center of neutral.•10.Hold the adjustment screw and securely tightenthe hex lock nut on the adjustment screw to 14-18 foot-pounds. Note that if a motor is usedwhich does not have a manifold, neutral shouldbe adjusted (steps 810) by observing the motoroutput shaft rotation without a load.•11.Stop the prime mover.•12.Run the system briefly to ensure that itoperates proportionally on both sides ofthe null command. Swashplatemovement can be verified by watchingmovement of the swashplate feedbackshaft, shown in Figure 1. The PressureOverride and Pressure Limiter accomplishthe same function-they shift the pumpswashplate toward neutral when systempressure crosses a pre-set threshold. They thus limit system pressure, protectcomponents from heat generated by flowacross relief valves and conserve pumphorsepower.Pressure override is available only for Series 2X pumps, and pressure limiting is available only for Series 3Xpumps. Pressure limiting and annular control are notavailable together. If the model code chosen indicatesthat the pressure override/pressure limiting function isdesired (i.e., "yes" is chosen in the second column of theconfiguration parameter, above), only pressure limitingwill be provided directly by Sundstrand Mobile Controls(pressure limiting is accomplished using a differentporting spool); the Pressure Override Valve must beobtained through Sundstrand Hydrotransmission. Seebelow.Stroke controls with annular control have a groove cutinto the spool bore of the housing that allows for higherflow from the control ports when they are uncovered, increasing swashplate response.Kits are needed in order to install the HDC onto thepump. Which kit is shipped with the HDC depends onwhich pump series is ordered. Included in the kit are:retaining rings, swashplate pin, drag link, orifice, hexscrews, O-rings and gasket. In some cases not all of theabove are necessary for installation, and they are notincluded with the kit. Individual drag links will not besupplied by Sundstrand.
