NOTE
Valve adjustment is done in firing order. Begin with no. 1 cylinder (located at rear of engine).
Firing order is 1-3-2.

Turn engine crankshaft in direction of rotation, bringing engine to tdc. Tdc is one-quarter to one-
half turn after inlet valve closes.

Loosen locknut.
NOTE
Valve clearance is correctly adjusted when a slight drag is felt on feeler gage. Intake and exhaust
valve clearance is 0.008 in.

Place feeler gage between rocker arm and valve stem end.

Turn adjusting screw in or out until slight drag is felt on feeler gage.

Tighten locknut. Recheck valve clearance (steps 3 and 4).

Repeat steps 3 thru 6 for other valve.

Repeat steps 1 thru 7 for remaining cylinders.

Install valve cover (para 2-61).
