TM 10-4610-232-34Table 2-1. Direct Support Troubleshooting Guide (Continued)MALFUNCTIONTEST OR INSPECTIONCORRECTIVE ACTIONStep 5. Shut down ROWPU and generator. Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix E and check continuity,point-to-point, from transformer T1(X1) (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 10) to relay K3(C2Y) andto K11(A2X). Repeat the procedure from T1(X2) to J14S (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 9).(a) Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).(b) Replace circuit breakers CB7 or CB9 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 8) if open (para.2-23). Normally closed.(c) Replace switch PB3 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 11) if open (para. 2-22). Normallyclosed.(d) Replace/repair connector J14 if faulty (para. 2-21).Step 6. Check continuity from relay K3(C2Y) to J14R. Depress the indicating plunger on K3 during the test. Shouldbe open. Check continuity from relay K11(A2X) to J14R. Depress the indicating plunger on K11 when testingits contact.(a) Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).(b) Replace/repair connector J14 if faulty (para. 2-21).(c) Replace relays K3 or K11 if their contact shows an open circuit when the plunger is pushed (para.2-23).3. Media filter inlet light does not work. Light test okay. Media filter inlet light does not show the actual valve position. (Ref.Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7, schematic fine 715).Shut down ROWPU and generator, Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix E and remove the #2A wire from PL15(REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 12). Check continuity, point-to-point, from CB9 (REF: Interconnectiondiagram FO-2, Sheet 8) to wire #280 on PL15.(a) Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).(b) Replace/repair J14 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 9) if faulty (para. 2-21).(c) Replace/repair P14 or J39 (REF Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 15) if faulty (para, 2-18).(d) Replace LTK2 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 7) if its contact is open (para. 2-23).4. Media filter outlet valve does not open ( system running). Valve light off. (Ref. Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7,schematic line 718).Step 7. Shutdown the ROWPU and open the control panel. Power up the panel to the point of starting the pumps insystem “NORMAL”. Observe the indicating plungers on relays K3 and K11 (REF: Interconnection diagramFO-2, Sheet 6). They should be out.If the plunger on K11 is in, refer to backwashing circuit troubleshooting.Step 2. Shut down ROWPU and generator. Remove the wires on relay K3 (terminal C2X) and K11 (terminal A2Y).Check continuity across K3(C2Y/C2X) and K11(A2X/A2Y).If either relay contact shows continuity, replace that relay (para. 2-23).5. Media filter outlet valve will not close (system backwash position or system clean position). Valve light on. (Ref.Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7, schematic line 718).Step 1.Step 2.Step 3.Step 4.Check valve for actual position. Refer to automatic valve general notes. If valve is closed, refer to valve light does not show correct valve position troubleshooting (malfunction 6).Turn off the raw water pump circuit breaker CB4, the booster pump circuit breaker CB5, and the highpressure pump breaker CB6 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 10).Disconnect the backwash chlorine pump, connector J45 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 15).Shut down the ROWPU. Open the control panel and power it back up. Set the control panel up in system“CLEAN” and push “INITIATE”. The indicating plunger on relay K3 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2,Sheet 6) should go in.If the plunger does not go in, refer to control circuits operating mode troubleshooting.Set the control panel up in system “BACKWASH” and push “INITIATE”. The indicating plunger on relay K11(REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 6) should go in when the backwash air valve light (PL17) (REF:Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 12) comes on.If the light does not come on, or if the light comes on but the K11 plunger does not go in, refer to media filterbackwashing circuits troubleshooting.Change 1 2-35
