Table 2-1. Direct Support Troubleshooting Guide (Continued)
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
14. Backwash outlet valve light does not work. Light test okay. Backwash outlet valve light does not show the actual valve
Position. (Ref. Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7, schematic line 713).
Shut down ROWPU and generator. Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix D. Remove the #2A wire from PL14 (REF:
Interconnectron diagram FO-2, Sheet 12). Check continuity, point-to-point, from CB9 (REF: Interconnection diagram
FO-2, Sheet 8) to wire #277 on PL14.
(a)
Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).
(b) Replace/repair J14 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 9) if faulty (para. 2-21).
(c)
Replace/repair P14 or J38 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 15) if faulty (para. 2-7).
(d) Replace LTK2 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 7) if its contact is open (para. 2-23).
15.
Clean/flush tank valve does not open (system clean). Valve light off. (Ref. Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7, schematic
line 735).
Step 1.
Step 2.
Shut down the ROWPU and open the control panel. Power up the panel to the point of starting the pumps in
system "Clean. Observe the indicating plungeron relay K3 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 6). It
should be in.
If the plunger on K3 is out, refer to control circuits operation mode troubleshooting.
Shut down ROWPU and generator. Remove connector P15 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 14)
from the side of the control panel. Check for continuity across relay K3(B3X/B3Y) with the indicating plunger
depressed.
If the K3 relay contact shows continuity, replace the relay (para. 2-23). Should be infinity.
16. Clean/flush tank valve does not open during the last phase of media filter backwashing. Light off. (Ref. Schematic
diagram FO-1, sheet 7, schematic line 735).
Step 1.
Shut down the ROWPU and open thecontrol panel. Power up the panel and INITIATE the backwash cycle.
Observe the indicating plunger on relay K12 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 6) during the last
part of the cycle. It should go in.
If the plunger on K12 stays out, refer to media filter backwashing circuit troubleshooting.
Step 2.
Shut down ROWPU and generator. Remove connector P15 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 14)
from side of the control panel. Check for continuity across relay K12(A3X/A3Y) with the indicating plunger
depressed.
If the K12 relay contact shows continuity, replace the relay (para. 2-23).
17. Clean/flush tank valve does not open (system shutdown). Valve light on. (Ref. Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7,
schematic line 725).
Step 1.
Shut down the ROWPU and open the control panel. Power up the panel to the point of starting the pumps in
system "Shutdown. Observe the indicating plunger on relay K5. It should be in.
If the plunger on K5 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 7) is out, refer to control circuits system
on/system shutdown troubleshooting.
Step 2.
Shut down ROWPU and generator. Remove connector P15 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 14)
from the side of the control panel. Check for continuity across relay K5(A3Y/A3X) with the indicating plunger
depressed.
If the K5 relay contact shows continuity, replace the relay (para. 2-23).
16.
Clean/flush tank valve does not close (system running normal). Clean/flush valve Is not closed when it should be. Valve
light on. (Ref. Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7, schematic line 735).
Step 1. Check valve for actual position.
If valve is closed, refer to valve light does not show correct valve position troubleshooting (malfunction 19).
Step 2.
Shut down the ROWPU and open the control panel. Repower the panel to the point of starting the pumps in
system NORMAL. Check that the indicating plungers on relay K12, K3 (REF: Interconnection diagram
FO-2, Sheet 6) and K5 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 7) are out.
(a)
If the plunger on K12 is in, refer to media filter backwash circuit troubleshooting.
(b)
If the plunger on K3 is in, refer to control circuits operation mode troubleshooting.
(c)
If the plunger on K5 is in, refer to control circuits system on/system shutdown troubleshooting.
Step 3.
Shut down ROWPU and generator. Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix D. Check continuity, point-to-
point, from CB9 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 8) to J15H (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2,
Sheet 9). Repeat the procedure from transformer T1 (X2) (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 10) to
J15l.
(a)
Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).
(b) Replace relay K12 if its contact is open (para. 2-23).
(c)
Replace/repair connector J14 if faulty (para. 2-23). Normally closed.
(d) Replace relay K5 if its contact is open (para. 2-23). Normally closed.
