TM 10-4610-232-34Table 2-1. Direct Support Troubleshooting Guide (Continued)MALFUNCTIONTEST OR INSPECTIONCORRECTIVE ACTION9.10.11.12.13.Step 3.Shut down ROWPU and generator. Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix D. Check continuity, point-to-point, from CB9 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 8) to J14E (REF: interconnection diagram FO-2,Sheet 9). Repeal the procedure from transformer T1(X2) (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 10) toJ14F.(a)Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).(b) Replace relay K11 if its contact is open (para. 2-23). Normally closed.(c)Replace/repair connector J14 if faulty (para. 2-21).Backwash inlet valve will not close (system clean position). Valve light on. (Ref. Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7,schematic line 709).Refer to the same problem in system “NORMAL” (malfunction 38).Backwash inlet valve does not work. Light test okay. Backwash Inlet valve light does not show the actual valve position.(Ref. Schematic FO-1, sheet 7, schematic line 710).Shut down ROWPU and generator. Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix D. Remove the #2A wire from PL13 (REF:Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 12). Check continuity, point-to-point, from CB9 (REF: Interconnection diagramFO-2, Sheet 8) to wire #275 on PL13.(a)Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).(b) Replace/repair J14 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 9) if faulty (para. 2-21).(c)Replace/repair LTK2 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 7) if itscontact is open (para. 2-23).Normally closed.(d) Replace/repair P14 or J40 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 15) if faulty (para. 2-7).Backwash outlet valve will not open (system backwash position). Valve light on. (Ref. Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7,schematic line 712).Step 7.Shut down ROWPU and open the control panel. Restore power to the control panel. Turn off the raw waterpump circuit breaker CB4, the booster pumpcircuit breaker CB5, and the high pressure pump breaker CB6(REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 10). Disconnect the backwash chlorine pump, connector J45(REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 15). Drain the media filter down until water slops coming out ofthe top media filter drain valve. Set the control panel up in system “BACKWASH” and push “INITIATE”. Theindicating plunger on relay K11 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 6) should go in when thebackwash air valve light (PL17) (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 12) comes on.If the light does not come on, or if the light comes on but the K11 plunger does not go in, refer to media filterbackwashing circuits troubleshooting.Step 2.Shut down ROWPU and generator. Remove connector P14 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 15)from the side of the control panel. Depress the indicating plunger on relay K11 and check that there is nocontinuity across the K11 contact A1X/A1Y.Replace relay K11 if there is continuity across its contact with the indicating plunger pushed in (para. 2-23).Backwash outlet valve will not close (system normal). Valve light on. (Ref. Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7, schematicline 712).Step 1.Check valve for actual position. Refer to automatic valve general notes. When stem is in up position, valveshould be closed. If valve is closed, refer to valve light does not show correct valve position troubleshooting (malfunction 14).Step 2.Shut down the ROWPU and open the control panel. Repower the panel to the point of starting the pumps insystem “NORMAL”. Check that the indicating plunger on relay K11 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2,Sheet 6) is out.If the plunger is in, refer to media filter backwashing circuit troubleshooting.Step 3.Shut down ROWPU and generator. Refer to electrical drawings in Appendix D. Check continuity, point-to-point, from CB9 (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 8) to J14J. Repeat the procedure fromtransformer T1 (X2) (REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2, Sheet 9)(REF: Interconnection diagram FO-2,Sheet 10) to J14K.(a)Repair any loose or damaged wire (para. 2-20).(b) Replace relay K11 if its contact is open (para. 2-23).(c)Replace/repair connector J14 if faulty (para. 2-21).Backwash outlet valve will not close (system clean). Valve light on. (Ref. Schematic diagram FO-1, sheet 7, schematicline 712).Refer to the same problem in system “NORMAL”. (Malfunction 12).Change 32-37
