Fuel Injection Valve Service:
Parts (TM 10-4610-309-24P):
Nozzle gasket
Material:
Clean a clogged fuel injection valve as follows (see Figure 18):
WARNING
If the engine has been running, it may be hot enough to ignite any fuel that leaks
out during fuel system maintenance. Make sure that the engine and its parts are
cool to the touch before disassembling any part of the fuel system. Failure to
observe this warning can result in a fire and serious personal injury.
1. Remove the fuel injection valve from the engine. Refer to REPLACE and Fuel Injection Valve.
2. Check the fuel injection valve nozzle tip for carbon deposits.
NOTE
Carbon deposits build up on the nozzle in the form of flowers.

3. Clean the carbon deposits off of the nozzle tip, and especially around the four fuel injection ports,
by wiping the exterior with a clean rag.

4. Reinstall the fuel injection valve. Refer to REPLACE and Fuel Injection Valve.
