PREPARATION FOR TRANSPORT INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
1.
This chapter describes how to prepare the water distributor for the following modes of transport:
a.
external air transport by CH-47 helicopter - machine sectionalized (WP 0016 00);
b.
air transport by C-130 aircraft - machine reconfiguration and drive-on and drive-off procedures (WP 0017 00);
c.
airdrop by C-130 aircraft - machine reconfigurated and rigged on an air delivery platform (WP 0018 00);
d.
marine transport - roll-on/roll-off (RO/RO) procedures (WP 0019 00);
e.
rail transport - procedures for CONUS and OCONUS countries (WP 0020 00); and
f.
highway transport - using commercial trailers only (WP 0021 00).

C-17 and C-5 aircraft can transport the water distributor without any reconfiguration required. Machine is driven on and
off aircraft in accordance with loadmaster instructions.
3.
If installed, AAL attachments (scraper blade assembly or cultivator) should be removed for transport.
4.
Unit Maintenance assistance is required to prepare the water distributor for transport.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
CAUTION
Do NOT deliver container by airdrop. Failure to follow this caution will damage container and its contents.

Tools and equipment required to prepare the machine for transport are contained in an ISU-60 container. For a complete
listing of these tools and equipment, refer to Table 1 in WP 0023 00.
2.
Some tools from the BII are also used (Table 2, WP 0023 00).
3.
Components of the machine that must be removed in preparation for transport are stowed on the machine, in the ISU-60
container, in the BII toolbox or, in the case of airdrop by C-130, they may be stowed on the air delivery platform.
