Inspection.
(1)
Inspect guard for dents and cracks.
(2)
Inspect motor for signs of overheating, worn bearings, and damaged wires and insulation.
3-23. FILTER PUMP MOTOR.
a. General. The diatomite filter pump and motor are enclosed in separate housings which are bolted together to form a
single integral unit. The pump and motor can be separated after removal from the unit.
WARNING
Drycleaning solvent, P-D-680, used to clean parts is potentially dangerous to personnel and property.
Wear chemical resistant gloves when using solvents, and avoid repeated or prolonged skin contact.
Do not use near open flame or excessive heat. Flash point of solvent is 100 degrees F to 138
degrees F (38 degrees C to 59 degrees C).

Cleaning. Clean the motor exterior with drycleaning solvent.
c.
Inspection. Inspect the motor for signs of overheating and a damaged electrical cable.
3-24. RAW WATER PUMP MOTORS.
a.
General. Two portable, electric motor driven, self-priming, centrifugal pumps are furnished with the unit. These
two units (11, fig. 1-2) are located in the van body aft of the erdlator tank. The drive motors (14, fig. 2-18) are bolted to
the frame base (10).
