Unpacking.
(1)
Remove crated chemical supplies from van body and cargo trailer.
(2)
Cut metal straps and carefully remove top and one side of crate.
(3)
Remove chemical containers from crate.
CAUTION
Be especially careful not to puncture the chemical containers with pry bar while opening the crates.
(4)
Remove collapsible tanks, connecting hose, and pumps from van body and cargo trailer.

Removal of Protective Material and Devices. Protective tape, cloth, and waterproof coverings may be slit with a
knife and removed. Preservatives can be removed from equipment using brushes, rags, or drycleaning solvent (item 1,
App. E).
CAUTION
Be careful not to allow diluted preservatives and solvent to enter water purification equipment.
(1)
Removal of preservatives.
(a)
Remove protective covering from inlet and outlet of pumps and hoses.
(b)
Remove tape or covering from electrical control cabinet and all connections. Clean electrical
connections thoroughly to assure good contact.
(c)
Remove all preservatives and protective material from generator and engine gages, controls, filler
openings, fan belt, and electrical components.
NOTE
If the equipment is not to be operated for some time, coat unprotected areas which will not come in
contact with water with light oil.
