4-3. INSPECTION OF EQUIPMENT.
a.
Van Body. Inspect van body for broken windows, damaged or broken clearance lights, defective hinges and
latches, and other damage.
b.
Water Purification Equipment.
(1)
Electrical control cabinet. Open the cabinet door and make a visual and hand-feel inspection to see that
all components are present and secure. See if all circuit breakers and switches operate freely. Inspect all of the controls
mounted on or in the cabinet for damage. Check for loose or missing hardware. Inspect wiring for breaks and loose
connections.
(2)
Agitator and slurry feeder drive motors. Turn drive motors by hand to make sure that they operate freely,
inspect for loose mounting bolts and electrical wiring connections.
(3)
Piping, hoses, and valves. Inspect piping and hoses for incorrect mounting, looseness, cracks, and
breaks. Pay particular attention to hoses and connections. Look for cracked, bent, or broken valves. Operate valves to
be sure they are not binding.
(4)
Gages and meters. Inspect the pressure gages and liquid flow meters for cracked or broken glass. See
that all gages and meters are securely mounted and that all connections are tight.
(5)
Slurry and solution feeders. Inspect slurry and solution feeders for insecure mounting, loose hose and
electrical connections, and broken or damaged parts.
(6)
Drive components. Inspect erdlator and chemical feed drive for loose mounting bolts and bent or twisted
drive shafts. Inspect belts and pulleys for damage. Make a visual and hand-feel inspection to see if all parts are secure,
correctly mounted, and operate freely. Inspect all guards for loose nuts and bolts. Ensure that guards do not contact
moving parts.

Diatomite filters. Inspect filters to see if there are any broken, damaged, or missing parts. See if all
mounting bolts are present and secure.
(8)
Erdlator tank. Inspect the erdlator tank and components to see if there are any damaged or missing parts.
See if all mounting hardware is present and secure.
(9)
Water pumps. Inspect the pumps for damage such as cracks and breaks. Operate the pumps by hand to
see if the impellers turn freely. Check for loose or missing hardware. Inspect the hose connections for damage.
(10)
Water tanks. Inspect the tanks and tank covers for holes and other damage. Check for missing guy ropes
and supports.
