CHOOSING THE SITE. When choosing the site to set up and run the ROWPU, remember the
following:
a.
If a stream is to be used as the raw water source, pick a site for the ROWPU upstream from camp.
Ensure that the site provides
downstream waste water
drainage away from the
water source.
CAUTION
Consider variable weather
conditions when choosing
site; avoid areas vulnerable
to flash flooding.

b. The raw water hoses can reach about 75 feet. Ensure the ROWPU is placed close enough for the
hoses to reach the stream or lake, and check that the ground is solid and fairly level.

Take advantage of available forest cover.
d. Take advantage of finished roads. They can furnish a solid, level surface
