Tighten six cylinder block mounting bolts. Tighten four filter base mounting bolts.

Install filter (subpara g) and add oil (subpara h).

Lightly coat filter gasket with engine oil (MIL-L-2104).

Install filter and hand-tighten.
h. Adding Oil

Pour 8 quarts of oil (MIL-L-2104) in through oil fill spout.

Check oil level.
3 Start engine. (See TM 10-4610-229-10.)

Run engine to operating temperature.
5 Shut down engine. (See TM 10-4610-229-10.)

Check oil level.
