Start of Delivery Adjustment

Remove valve cover (para 2-35).

Remove fuel delivery line (para 2-29).

Rotate crankshaft. Bring piston to top dead center (tdc).

Remove rocker arm (para 3-13).
NOTE
Do not let inlet valve drop into cylinder.

Install valve removal tool on cylinder head.

Press valve remover handle down, compressing inlet valve spring. Remove valve cone halves. Remove
valve removal tool, spring retainer, spring, and spring seat. Let valve sit on piston.

Connect dial indicator to cylinder head, setting pointer on inlet valve.

Turn crankshaft in both directions until gage shows maximum valve. Piston is at precise tdc.
9
Set dial indicator scale to 0.
10
Slowly turn crankshaft against the operating direction until the inlet valve moves down 0.39 in. This is gap

Remove compression valve from injection pump.
