3-26. BOOST PUMP ASSEKBLY REPAIR (CONT)
a. Disassembly
CAUTION
Care must be taken not to mar or scratch the stainless steel shaft or the surfaces of the seal.
NOTE
The pump must be at room temperature before disassembly. Repair of the pump must be in a clean area.

Remove eight nuts, lockwashers, and flatwashers. Remove volute housing and gasket. Remove studs.

Bend up tab on lockwasher.

Place socket-head screw key in impeller screw. Tap with a soft hammer until impeller screw loosens.

Remove impeller screw and lockwasher. Remove impeller.
5
Remove spacer ring and rotating seal.
6
Remove six socket-head screws and lockwashers from flange. Remove flange and stationary seal.

Remove gasket and retainer.
b. Cleaning and Inspection

Clean gasket mounting surfaces.

Clean all parts with warm water.
3
Inspect housings for cracks and obvious damage. Replace if required.
4
Inspect stainless steel shaft for nicks, scratches, burrs, and bends. Repair or replace if required.
5
Inspect impeller for cracks and obvious damage. Replace if required.
c. Assembly
1
Wrap stainless steel shaft to protect against scratches.
2
Install dial indicator.
3
Place pointer of dial indicator on shoulder of intermediate housing.
