Replace brush springs if they are distorted ordiscolored.2Inspect all parts for breaks, cracks, bends, and other damage. Replace as required.d.CleaningCAUTIONTo prevent damage to armature or fields, do not clean them in solvent.1Clean armature and slots, removing all traces of dirt and copper dust.2Using sandpaper, remove burrs.WARNING·Solvent may cause toxic fumes. To prevent personal injury, work only in well ventilated area.DO NOT breathe fumes for a long time.·Solvent is flammable. To prevent fire or explosion, DO NOT bring open flame or sparks nearsolvent.3Using solvent, clean all other parts.e.Testing1Using a dial indicator, check armature and shaft for out-of-round.2Using a growler and steel strip, check armature for shorts.
