TM 10-4610-232-34
a. Replace damaged or unserviceable components.
b. Repair upper PVC pipe assembly (11. Figure 2-65) as follows:
(1) Using a file, put a 10° to 15° chamber(Figure 2-65.1)on both ends of pipe sectional 11A, Figure 2-65) and on the
end of pipe section (11 B) which will be fit into elbow (11D).
(2) Wipe the pipe surface (11 A and 11 B), tee socket (11C), and elbow socket(11 D) with a clean cloth to remove all
dirt, moisture, and grease.
(3) Check dry fit of pipe and fittings. Position pipe and fitting to assure alignment.
NOTE
Time is not critical when priming, and repeated applications may be necessary to
accomplish a dissolving action.
(4) Using a bristle brush about 1/2 the size of pipe diameter, apply primer to the tee socket (11 C) and elbow (11 D)
until the surface begins to dissolve.
(5) Now apply primer to the pipe surface (11A and 11B) equal to the depth of the fitting socket. Make sure surface
begins to dissolve.
(6) Again, apply primer to the tee socket (1 1C] and elbow socket (11D) surfaces, to be sure they are still damp.
NOTES
l Complete steps (7) through (10) on one joint at a time.
l Apply glue to pipe and fitting and insert pipe into the fitting in less than 1 minute.
(7) Using a clean bristle brush about 1/2 the size of pipe diameter, apply a heavy coat of glue to the male end
surface of the pipe (1 1 A or 11 B).
NOTE
Use straight outward strokes to keep excess glue out of the socket.
(8) Next, apply a liberal coat of glue to the inside of the tee socket(11 C) or elbow socket (1 1 D).
(9) While the glue is still wet on both surfaces, insert pipe (11A or 11 B) into tee socket (11C) or elbow socket (11 D)
with a 1/4 turn twisting motion.
NOTE
Refer to Figure 2-65 for proper alignment.
(10) Hold joint together for approximately 30 seconds until both surfaces are firmly gripped. Allow proper cure
time before disturbing joints. (Refer to Table 2-5.)
c. Repair lower PVC pipe assembly (22) as follows:
(1) Using a file, put a 10°to 15 °chamfer(Figure 2-65.1) on the ends of the pipe section (22A and 22B, Figure 2-65)
which will be fit into elbow (22 C).
(2) Wipe the pipe surface (22A and 22B) and elbow socket (22C) with a clean cloth to remove all dirt, moisture and
grease.
(3) Check dry fit of pipe and fittings. Position pipe (22A or 22B) and elbow fitting (22C) to ensure alignment.
NOTE
Time is not critical when priming, and repeated applications may be necessary to
accomplish a dissolving action,
(4) Using a bristle brush about 1/2 the size of pipe diameter, apply primer to the elbow socket (22C) until the
surface begins to dissolve.
