TM 10-4610-232-34e.g.h.Unscrew impeller (8) by turning counterclockwise while facing the impeller.Remove rotating section of seal (9).Remove four bolts (10) and remove adapter (11). Slinger (12) is now free.Place adapter (11 ) face down on the bench and press out the stationary section of seal (13). If necessary, removeplug (14).a. Replace all worn or damaged parts.b. If clearance between impeller (8) and case (4) exceeds 0.050”, replace impeller and case.a. If removed, install plug (14) in adapter (11) using antiseize tape to prevent leaks,b.c.e.f.g.h.CAUTIONMechanical seal must enter squarely and evenly. Seal will crack or break easily.Press stationary section of seal (13) in adapter (11) seat cavity.Install slinger (12) on motor shaft (15).CAUTIONBe careful that the motor shaft does not dislodge or damage seal.Install adapter (11) on motor shaft (15) and secure with four capscrews (10 ).CAUTIONBe sure the seal faces stay in proper contact and be careful to avoid damage to sealsurfaces.Apply soapy solution to motor shaft (15) and seal (9) and place seal (9) on motor shaft.NOTEUse a flat tip screwdriver to prevent the motor shaft from turning,Thread impeller (8) on motor shaft (15) until impeller (8) is tight against motor shaft shoulder,Install D-ring (7) and impeller retainer (6).Install preformed packing (5) and case (4) on adapter (11) and secure with capscrews (3).i. Check for free shaft rotation.j. Install fan cover (2) and secure with screws (1).2-259
