c. Disassembly. Refer to figure 5-16 for disas-
sembly of the speed reducer.
d. Clean, Inspect and Repair.
(1) Clean the speed reducer with dry clean-
ing solvent P-D-680.
(2) Inspect the input and output shaft seals
and other damage.
(3) Inspect the bearings for corroded or pit-
ted surfaces and wear. Revolve the bearings by
hand and check for rough spots.
(4) If the seals and bearings are in ser-
viceable condition, cover them with a thin coat
of light oil and wrap them in a lint-free cloth or
waxed paper.
