MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Step 3.
Water above the slurry pool is clear, but contains large floc particles. Increase the limestone slurry
rate of discharge. Move the variator feed indicator FEI-6 (1, fig. 2-11) to a higher feeder scale
reading. Use the limestone slurry calibration chart (fig. 2-9) as an aid in determining the proper
setting.
Step 4.
Disagreeable odor emitting from effluent. If the water has an objectionable color, taste, or odor, add
a base charge of 1/10 pound of activated carbon per gallon of water to the limestone compartment of
the slurry feeder.
6. CHEMICAL SLURRY FEEDER NOT SUPPLYING ENOUGH SLURRY TO ERDLATOR TANK OR FILTERS.
Step 1.
Insufficient water. Adjust the variators (3 and 1, fig. 2-12) and valves (7, fig. 2-12 and 2, fig. 2-11).
Step 2.
Insufficient mixing of chemicals due to poor adjustment. Adjust the hand variators. (Refer to para 2-
3, b. (8).)
Step 3.
Chemicals clogging the feeder. Shut down and clean out the chemicals.
