Cleaning. Clean the inside and outside of the tanks with soap and water. After cleaning rinse with clear water.
c.
Inspection. Inspect the synthetic rubber lining for cracks and deterioration. Inspect the clamp arm stud for bad
threads, corrosion, and rust.
3-49. DIATOMITE DILUTION TANK ASSEMBLY.
a.
General. The diatomite dilution tank (10, fig. 2-15) is made of aluminum and welded watertight. It is mounted to
brackets on the slurry feeder. The diatomite dilution tank provides storage for diatomite slurry to supply the suction line
of the filter pumps.
WARNING
Drycleaning solvent, P-D-680, used to clean parts is potentially dangerous to personnel and property.
Wear chemical resistant gloves when using solvents, and avoid repeated and prolonged skin contact.
Do not use near open flame or excessive heat. Flash point of solvent is 100 degrees F to 138
degrees F (38 degrees C to 59 degrees C).
b.
Cleaning. Clean all parts in drycleaning solvent and dry thoroughly.
c.
Inspection.
(1)
Inspect tank for rust, cracks or leaks.
(2)
Inspect all fittings for cracks, breaks and damaged threads.
3-50. ERDLATOR TANK ASSEMBLY.
a.
General. The erdlator tank (12, fig. 1-3) is a circular funnel shaped unit of one piece aluminum construction,
with a capacity of approximately 930 gallons (3520 1). The erdlator tank assembly is mounted on the van body floor and
is located in between the wet well tank and the raw water pumps.
