Cleaning. Clean the speed reducer with drycleaning solvent.
c.
Inspection. Inspect the speed reducer for leaks, cracks, worn keyways, shaft end play, and noisy operation.
3-62. DIATOMITE FILTER PUMP.
a.
General. The diatomite filter pump (fig. 3-11) and motor are enclosed in separate housings which are bolted
together to form a single integral unit. The assembly (15, fig. 1-3) is mounted on the floor at the forward end of the van
body.

Cleaning. Clean all metal parts with steam or with drycleaning solvent.
c.
Inspect.

Inspect motor for signs of overheating and damaged electrical cable.
(2)
Inspect pump for binding and damaged or cracked housing.
(3)
Inspect suction head, pump casing, and adapter for cracks, breaks and damaged threads in mounting
holes.
(4)
Inspect wear ring and impeller for cracks and wear.
(5)
Inspect shaft for damaged threads, worn keyway, and wear around seals and gland mating surface.
