3-63. RAW WATER DISTRIBUTION PUMP.
a.
General. Two portable electric motor driven water pumps (fig. 2-18) are furnished with the unit. The drive
motors (14) are bolted to the frame base (10). The two pumps are mounted on the floor of the van body in between the
erdlator tank and entrance ladders mounted on the van body wall (11, fig. 1-3).
WARNING
Drycleaning solvent, P-D-680, used to clean parts is potentially dangerous to personnel and property.
Wear chemical resistant gloves when using solvents, and avoid repeated or prolonged skin contact.
Do not use near open flame or excessive heat. Flash point of solvent is 100 degrees F to 138
degrees F (38 degrees C to 59 degrees C).
b.
Cleaning. Clean the pump and motor with drycleaning solvent.
c.
Inspection.
(1)
Inspect motor for signs of overheating and damaged electrical cable.
(2)
Inspect pump for binding and damaged or cracked housing.
3-64. HOSES AND FITTINGS.
a. General. Sufficient hoses and fittings are furnished (fig.
3-8) to equip the water purification unit for normal operation.
b.
Inspection.
(1)
Inspect hoses for holes, cracks or abrasions.
(2)
Inspect fittings for cracks, dents or stripped threads.
c.
Replace. Replace any defective hoses for fittings.
3-65. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS.
a.
Description. The monobromotrifluoromethane type fire extinguisher replaces the carbon dioxide type fire
extinguisher used in the past. It is generally suitable for use on all types of fires with exception of fires involved with LOX
(liquid oxygen) generating equipment. The fire extinguisher is furnished with a disposable type cylinder.
b.
Operation.

Remove fire extinguisher from its location.
