Installation.
(a)
Position frame (2, fig. 4-12) over mounting holes and install and tighten three capscrews (1).
(b)
Set toolbox in frame and fasten straps (3 and 4).
(3)
Repair. Straighten the frame if it is bent, and weld all cracks and breaks. If the straps (3 and 4) are
unserviceable, remove them and install serviceable straps using new rivets (5). Paint the frame and box before installing
them.
b.
Raw Water or Distribution Pump Frame.
(1)
Removal. Remove the water pump from the frame (1, fig. 2-18).
(a)
Disconnect electrical cable (15) from short section of cable attached to electric motor (14).
(b)
Remove nuts (12), washers (13) and screws (11).
(c)
Lift electric motor (14) and pump out of frame (1) as an assembly.
(2) Installation of pump in frame.
(a)
Position pump in frame (1, fig. 2-18) and install screws (11), washers (13) and nuts (12).
(b)
Attach electric cable (15) to short section of cable attached to electric motor.
(c)
Wrap cable around hose and cable bracket (16).
(3)
Repair. Weld all breaks, straighten bent members, and repaint frame if it is chipped or damaged.
4-21. LEVELING JACKS AND CHAIN PIN ASSEMBLY.
a.
General. Four screw type leveling jacks are supplied with each van body. The jacks are used to level and
support the van body when the water purification unit is in operation. The chain pin assemblies are designed to adjust
the height of the leveling jacks.
b.
Removal of Jack and Chain Pin Assembly.
(1)
Turn lever (5, fig. 3-6) counterclockwise on screw (4) until lower base (2) lifts from the ground.
(2) Slide top base (2) from jack holder assembly (1) on van body frame (3) to remove jack assembly from unit.
Separate chain from housing (6) and leveling jack pin (9) in the following manner: (a) Cut chain attaching
link (7) as near to housing (6) as possible. Open link and remove chain (8) from link (7).
