Remove nuts (11) and hinge pins (12) from charging door and lift door from tank.

Remove screws (14) and washers (15) from cover (13) and lift cover from feeder (4).
b.
Inspect. Inspect the door and latches for rust, dents, stripped threads on the setscrews or bent or broken hinge
pins.
c.
Replace. Replace any unserviceable parts.
d.
Installation of Charging Door and Latches.
(1)
Position cover (13, fig. 4-52) on tank (4) and secure with screws (14) and secure with screws (14) and
washers (15).
(2)
Position charging door (10, fig. 4-52) on cover (13) with hinge pin holes aligned with those on tank and
secure with two hinge pins (12) and nuts (11).
(3)
Insert shafts of door latches (9) outward through latch holes in door.
(4)
Position door latch knobs on shafts and tighten setscrews.

CHEMICAL SLURRY FEEDER AGITATOR SHAFT BEARING PACKING.
a.
General. The agitator shaft bearings are equipped with packing to prevent leakage between the bearings and
shaft (5, fig. 4-53). The packing may be compressed or adjusted as necessary if leaks occur.
b.
Removal.
(1)
Loosen nut (4, fig. 4-53) and slide it back on agitator shaft (5).
(2)
Remove spring and washer from bearing and slide them back on shaft (5).
(3)
Remove packing with a piece of heavy wire or a small screwdriver.
NOTE
Do not loosen or remove the lockwasher (2) or locknut (3) when replacing or adjusting the packing.
c.
Replace. Replace any unserviceable parts.
d.
Installation and Adjustment.
(1)
Place a new packing around agitator shaft (5, fig. 4-53) and push it into bearing housing (1) with washer
and spring, and install nut (4).
